Preserve
your
Family
Bible
An ongoing project of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter is the collection of bible records (see criteria)*.
Preserve your family history by sending a copy of your family's bible records to GenRecords@darindiana.org. Your family's records will be included in a volume of collected bible records published by the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter, DAR. Bound copies will then be placed at the Indiana State Library (Indianapolis), Allen County Public Library (Ft. Wayne, IN) and the Daughters of the American Revolution Library (Washington, DC) for the perusal of future generations of researchers.
- Please send a copy of the bible's title page and the copyright page (if
date of publication is not shown on the title page). If no title page
exists, please describe in a typed message why the page is not available.
- Please indicate the name of the owner of the bible at the time it was in
use and their full address if known.
- Please list the name and address of the present day owner including
county.
- Provide us with legible copies of the family records in the bible.
- If known, please list the county and state of birth, marriage, and death
for each individual.
- Copies of the bible records must be legible.
- If illegible, please transcribe or type the text.
- It is preferable that you transcribe the bible records because you may be
more familiar with the nuances of spellings, etc.
- If it is not possible to transcribe DAR volunteers will do so.
- If you do not wish to scan a copy or take a digital photo of the bible and
use the computer, please copy and mail the necessary pages to:
